The Last Steep
According to widely traveled visitors, the best Bloody Mary they’ve ever had can be found at The Last Steep Bar and Grill in Crested Butte, Colorado. Folks say they have a magic touch with this concoction, as well as with the food!

The Last Steep is a family owned and operated restaurant in the heart of historic downtown Crested Butte. Established in 2000, the Last Steep has rapidly become a local hang-out as well as tourist destination — and when a place is popular with the locals, you know it’s good. The bar and grill is named after the owners’ favorite North Face ski run at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and Ski Area. Conveniently located near the Crested Butte Shuttle stop and some fantastic shopping, it’s a great place not only to wet your whistle, but for some great food as well.

Specialties include freshly made salads and wraps, creative sandwiches, burgers and seafood, fine desserts and they swear they have the coldest beer in town. While I haven’t tried everything on the menu personally, I can say that each time I’ve stopped by over the past 10 years, I’ve enjoyed every single meal.

The artichoke dip appetizer is a great way to start the meal, but if you are ordering it for yourself, don’t bother to order anything else. It’s a large serving and it’s so good, you won’t WANT to eat anything else. It’s better to share if you can find friends willing. Last time I popped in, I had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl — a delightful mix of fresh steamed veggies and seasoned chicken with jasmine rice.

The menu has changed some over the years, but when old favorites disappear, don’t worry, you’ll find new ones!

The ambiance has a bit of a New Orleans flair crossed with shabby-chic ski lodge charm. Set in an historic building, the floors are a bit warped, the benches are well worn but comfy. For the die-hard sports fan, strategically placed TVs will keep you up to date on the big game!
