Located in Draper, Utah, the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium has a mission to inspire people to explore, discover and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. The aquarium hopes to encourage conservation of the planet and its creatures through adoption, education, research and recreation.

The best part about the aquarium is that it is just plain fun. Kids and families will love exhibits like the playful North American River Otters, who spend their days in endless play. They love to swim, slip and slide, whether in the mud during summer or the snow in winter. The Touch Pool is another favorite, allowing visitors to touch stingrays and to imagine what life would be like as a fish on the coral reef.
If you are feeling friendly, you can always have a close encounter with a penguin. There are sharks, frogs, anaconda, reefs, trout streams and more to explore.

Perhaps the biggest draw is the rescued green sea turtle. The 40 pound turtle was attacked by a shark and then hit by a boat in the Florida Keys. She was eventually rescued by The Turtle Hospital in Florida.
However, the 12 inch diameter wound in her right side does not allow her to fully submerge and therefore unable to survive in the wild. Clever marine biologists have figured out a way to attach lead weight to her shell, allowing her to submerge and live peacefully in her home at the Living Planet Aquarium.

The aquarium offers Calypso’s Café for great snacks, while the gift shop offers both educational and fun toys for young and old alike.
