Park City, Utah, located in Summit County, sits amidst the beauty and wonder of the Wasatch Mountains. Just 30 miles east of Salt Lake City, this glorious little town has plenty to see and do.

1. Skiing and Winter Sports
Park City has three major ski resorts: Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort. Deer Valley and Park City were the major locations for the skiing and snowboarding events at the 2002 Winter Olympics games. In addition, the Utah Olympic Park is a great place to ice skate, take a thrilling bobsled ride and much more.

2. Sundance Film Festival
Park City is home to the United States’ largest independent film festival, the Sundance Film Festival, sponsored by the Sundance Institute. The festival takes place in January every year and showcases new work from American and international independent filmmakers. Founded by Wildwood, Robert Redford’s company, nearly 50,000 people attend this weeklong event every year. Many famous independent filmmakers received their big break at Sundance including notable names like Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderberg.

3. Heber Valley Railroad
Winter or summer, the Heber Valley Railroad offers exciting train rides that showcase the beauty of the Wasatch Range and the Heber Valley. Each year, the railroad comes up with new train rides so you never know what fun will be next! For instance, you might hop aboard the Chocolate Lover’s Express for Valentine’s Day, or explore the Winter Wonderland Train during the winter months. In the summer, the train often combines events like horseback riding, river rafting and tubing with a train ride. Your best bet is to check their website to see what events are being offered that season.

4. Alpine Coaster
Located at Park City Mountain Resort, this summer thrill ride will WOW you! The elevated alpine track winds you through more than a mile of loops, curves and hair-pin curves at speeds up to 30 mph. It is a wild ride through incredible alpine scenery.

5. The Egyptian Theatre
Live entertainment has been a part of Park City’s history since its days as a rather lawless mining town. Today, The Egyptian Theatre (the third such building to stand on the site) hosts a variety of musical acts, special events, community fundraisers and more. From stand-up comedians to blues vocalists, from Broadway plays to jazz and rock artists, you’ll love the ambiance of the theatre.
