Known as “the Santa Fe,” the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway came to Santa Fe in 1880 and has remained in nearly continuous operation since then. Today, a part of the line remains as a wonderful piece of history. The Santa Fe Southern Railway is still carrying passengers through high-desert scenery as well as still carrying freight to serve the community. Like the Plaza, the Santa Fe Southern Railway, with its terminus at the old Santa Fe Depot, is an authentic, irreplaceable link to Santa Fe’s colorful past.
Visitors to Santa Fe can make reservations in the vintage 1920s coach cars or request seating in the ‘50s-era luxury lounge silver car. The coach cars have been restored and renovated and seats have what are known as walk-over backs which allow passenger to face forward or face each other. The Silver Class seats are cozier, with a more intimate experience, including lounge seating that can be transformed into diners with two to six people enjoy meals on the dinner trains.

“Hair O’ the Dog” Train Ride
On New Year’s Day, enjoy a relaxing, scenic train ride after your fun night out! Sample a little hair of the dog with Bloody Marys and Mimosas at the cash bar.
