The Dubliner Irish Pub

October 15, 2008

The Dubliner is a true Irish Pub in Phoenix, Arizona. On St. Patrick’s Day, it is one of the most popular taverns in the Valley of the Sun. The rest of the year, it is a quiet local tavern that has no pretensions or grandeur.

A huge, gleaming bar divides the center of the pub. On one side, you can sip your Guinness and watch sporting events on big screen TVs. Booths and wooden tables provide seating, along with high stools at the bar. Photos and mementos line the walls and let you know you’ve definitely found a home away from Ireland.

On the other side of the pub, you can enjoy real Irish fare (or more American options for less exotic tastes). Try the Chicken Boxty — a potato pancake with chicken in light cream sauce folded in the center — or the Shepherd’s pie, a humble combination of mashed potatoes, ground beef and cheese. Though the food isn’t fancy, it is very tasty and so reasonably priced it is almost unbelievable.

On most weekend nights, drop in and enjoy the live music of local artists. At any time, you will find the patrons friendly and talkative.
