Running Of The Santas

Written by on November 18, 2010 in UT Events - Comments Off on Running Of The Santas

Ever seen hundreds of runners in Santa suits? It happens once a year at the end of November in both Ogden and Provo, Utah. Hundreds of runners don Santa suits, hats and beards and race up the main streets of both towns. Santa’s Helpers (all volunteers) who dress in green shirts and hats hand out milk and cookies to the runners along the 5K route. Both Santa Runs are followed by Holiday Parades and Ogden lights up their Christmas Village as soon as the parade reaches it. Medals are provided to the top three Fastest Male/Female Santas and the winner’s photos will be posted online after the race.

Proceeds from the Ogden Santa Run go to support Ogden’s Christmas Village, while proceeds from the Provo Santa Run support Provo’s Winterfest.

Ogden’s Christmas Village allows you to explore a dazzling wonderland of lights in the Christmas Village located in downtown Ogden, Utah. Each year, the Christmas Village grows in size until it is now a mammoth winter fantasy land with more than 72 cottages, 1 million lights and live nightly entertainment.

Provo City’s Winter Fest starts with the Lights On Ceremony at the end of November and ends with First Night on December 31, with various special events, shopping opportunities, concerts and fun things to do in between.

Visit Santa Run for more information or to register.
