Christmas on the Pecos
Christmas on the Pecos gives homeowners along the Pecos River in Carlsbad, New Mexico, a chance to go “overboard” for the holiday season. This magical vista is created by over 100 homeowners who spend hours decorating their homes with millions of lights. The river shimmers with color and the warmth of the season. You will see everything from Desert Southwest themes to Santa’s Workshop. The creativity and pride these homeowners take the display is amazing.

Christmas on the Pecos was voted as the Outstanding Event of the Year in 2007 by the New Mexico Tourism Association. It was also voted as a top 100 “must see” events in North America for 14 years running by the American Bus Association.

The absolute best way to view this spectacular display is by boat and you can purchase tickets aboard a pontoon boat to experience the beauty first-hand! Carlsbad Navy officers navigate each of the three pontoon boats through this spectacular show on the Pecos River Christmas Cruise. Each officer is a volunteer and Chamber of Commerce member who has been specially trained in boating safety and operations.

Boats depart 12-15 times per night between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m., from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve. The starting point for this magical tour is Pecos River Village, which also goes all out and is transformed into a wonderland of lights. It’s also a great place to wander through a gallery full of gifts created by local artists and enjoy holiday refreshments.

As you might imagine, this is an immensely popular tour, so reservations are strongly recommended. You can purchase tickets online at Christmas on the Pecos, or by e-mail at moc.socepehtnosamtsirhcnull@stekcit, or by calling 575-887-6516.
